Pre-term preparation

Practical setup for the DESN1000 design project without over-preparing.

  1. Confirm enrolment in CR01.
  2. Set up a simple design log for requirements, assumptions, options, decisions, tests, and evidence.
  3. Refresh basic sketching, diagramming, spreadsheets, and short technical writing.
  4. Practise meeting notes with owners and due dates.
  5. Wait for the stream brief before buying parts or learning a project-specific platform.
  6. Complete any required Makerspace or safety induction when UNSW releases it.

Optional preparation: sketch simple mechanisms, refresh familiar CAD tools, review digital I/O and PWM conceptually, and practise documenting prototype tests.
